The Bill Belichick Foundation Distributes $350,000 In Scholarships And Grants & Announces Winners Of The 2024 STX Lacrosse Equipment Grant

THE BILL BELICHICK FOUNDATION DISTRIBUTES $350,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS AND GRANTS AND ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF THE 2024 STX LACROSSE EQUIPMENT GRANT

Entering its second decade of giving, the nonprofit announces two significant distributions of financial aid and sports equipment to student athletes and programs in need

BOSTON, MA – (May 14, 2024) – The Bill Belichick Foundation, entering its 11th year, today announced its most recent class of scholarship and grant recipients and winners of its spring lacrosse equipment grant in partnership with STX. 

The BBF is proud to distribute $350,000 in scholarships and grants to qualifying individuals and sports organizations across the country. The Bill Belichick Foundation’s financial support aims to help athletic programs across the United States grow and overcome obstacles due to lack of funding and resources. Scholarship and grant funds will provide athletic experiences and opportunities to underprivileged youth and sports programs in need.

The Bill Belichick Foundation was established in 2013 in memory of Steve Belichick and provides coaching, mentorship and financial support to individuals, communities and organizations. Focusing on football and lacrosse, its mission is to bring the values of the Belichick family – a love of sports, coaching and team building – to the athletic leaders of tomorrow.  

“For over a decade, The Bill Belichick Foundation has given back through its grant and scholarship programs,” said Bill Belichick. Thanks to the Foundation’s supporters we are able to award 20 deserving student athletes and 25 exemplary sports programs with financial aid in addition to distributing new lacrosse equipment with our longtime partner, STX, to three deserving and growing programs,” Belichick added. The Bill Belichick Foundation has now surpassed $3 million in grants and scholarships distributed since its inception in 2013.

Today the Foundation is formally announcing 20 recipients of its annual scholarship class, a $5,000 stipend awarded to students who have excelled academically while participating in athletics.

To qualify, students must be a senior in high school, in their first year, second year or third year of college, hold a GPA of 3.0 or better, participate in at least one sport, submit a completed application for review along with a letter of recommendation and appropriate official school documents.

The Bill Belichick Foundation grant is a $10,000 gift that recognizes deserving athletic communities and organizations in need of financial support. Both types of aid are geared towards creating, guiding and fostering the athletic leaders of tomorrow, who will embrace the Foundation’s values and pay that knowledge forward to the next generation. The BBF is thrilled to provide awards to 25 programs nationwide.

Applications for 2024 Bill Belichick Foundation scholarships and grants will be available online this summer at billbelichickfoundation.org. Applications will be open for qualified student athletes; seniors in high school, freshman, sophomores and juniors in college, and athletic programs in the United States. Additional grant applications will be available later this year on billbelichickfoundation.org. 

Continuing its mission to grow the sport of lacrosse, The Bill Belichick Foundation is proud to announce winners of its 8th annual STX Lacrosse Equipment grant to the following organizations:

  • Navarre High School Varsity Women’s Lacrosse (Navarre, Florida)
  • Caddo Magnet Lacrosse (Shreveport, Louisiana) 
  • Hedgesville High School (Hedgesville, West Virginia)

The BBF for eight years has partnered with STX, a global sporting goods leader to provide lacrosse sticks, lacrosse balls, goalie equipment and lacrosse goals to teams in need. 

“We continue to be inspired by coaches, athletic directors and volunteers we get to know through our application processes,” Belichick added. “These programs align their goals with ours and will use this support to build stronger teams and grow the sports within their communities,” said Belichick.  

For nearly a decade the BBF’s scholarship and grant programs have been in part funded by the support of “Team Belichick”, the Foundation’s Boston Marathon team. We are proud to announce this year’s Boston Marathon team of seven runners raised over $70,000 for the BBF’s scholarship and grant programs.
