On Thursday, March 31st, 2016, the Bill Belichick Foundation hosted a party at West End Johnnies to celebrate the first year of securing Boston Marathon bibs through the John Hancock Nonprofit Program. Coach Belichick and Linda Holliday, Executive Director of the Foundation, joined five of the six dedicated runners on Team Belichick for a fun evening of bites, music, and fundraising for the Bill Belichick Foundation.
The crowd of nearly 300 guests heard from Belichick and his runners, Lisa Fox, Will DiTullio, Elizabeth Paul, Christopher McHallam and Rich DeCapua, and enjoyed a Q&A session with the Coach. Supporters were able to snap photos and ‘selfies’ with Coach Belichick, and runners were given swag bags which included race singlets, hats and warmup gear. The Bill Belichick Foundation featured silent auction items which ranged from signed memorabilia and spa treatments to Patriots game day tickets. The Foundation also held a 50/50 raffle raising over $1300 for the winner to split with BBF.
In total, the event raised over $17,000 for The Bill Belichick Foundation and combined with Belichick’s six runners the team has raised approximately $60,000 for the Foundation, and will continue to raise funds right up through race day. Their proceeds will aid the BBF in its mission to support student athletes and startup athletic programs in need.
